In your hands
It's all very well to talk about targets and make pledges about how those targets are to be achieved, but to expect, nay demand, that many billions of inhabitants throughout the world get on board with new ways of living when they are reluctant to make changes, is folly.
To force somebody to do something which goes against their natural perceptions of how life should be, can only lead to a rise in rebellion. People will only be pushed so far, then they realise that the only options they have are to go forward in the direction their instincts are telling them to.
Lifestyles from all corners of the earth are always going to be incompatible. One world politics will hit the buffers, it has to. It is natural that people veer towards their own communities. To share what they have, to look after their own first. To cross over boundaries, in whatever form they take, will always be fraught with problems. I don't just mean physical boundaries, but mental and imagined boundaries. A complex brain should have no boundaries, but it does. Free thinkers have far wider boundaries than those who are happy in their own little bubble. That's how it is. To force people with two opposing views to live together in harmony will not work in the long term.
There are a group of people intent on steering the world in one direction. Imagine that. They think they have the answer to every problem that man is guilty of creating. Once one solution is deemed to be going in the wrong direction it is easier to keep pushing ahead, rather than admit, sorry I screwed up. They won't do that because there will be another avenue to explore to achieve their goal.
At the moment I can't see an end to what is going on. They will pursue every avenue available to them. If people close their eyes and ears and carry on in their own bubble, that is their choice. But if people take responsibility for their own lives and start questioning everything, we have a chance. Saying no if we don't agree with something. Saying no I am not going to do that. Saying no thanks and walking away.
I wish you well. Make your Sunday a happy day. Make every day a happy day. You only have one life. Best wishes. ilona
