Plans for Duchess Kate's RHS "Woodland Wilderness" Garden Revealed!
At the stroke of midnight, Kensington Palace released a first look at plans for the Duchess of Cambridge's 'Woodland Wilderness' garden which will be displayed at this year's Royal Horticultural Society's Chelsea Flower Show in May.
Last month, it was announced Kate has been collaborating with landscape architects Andree Davies and Adam White, of Davies White Landscape Architects, since October to create the RHS Back to Nature Garden. Inspired by childhood memories of the natural world and moments that will be created by families in the future, the garden seeks to recapture for adults "the sense of wonder and magic" they enjoyed outdoors as children.
Additionally, three new images from Kate's meetings with Davies and White were shared. It is understood the Cambridges Norfolk bolthole Anmer Hall served as inspiration and the final result will include features from their own garden. During an engagement to mark Children's Mental Health Week on Tuesday, Kate was asked to produce an item that makes her happy. She shared a photo of her family in Norfolk. She's clearly eager to bring a slice of their life in the country to this project.
'Back To Nature' will include a treehouse, waterfall and stream, rustic den, campfire and stepping stones. Not only does it look visually gorgeous, filled with wild flowers, natural materials and earthy hues, this garden is an outdoor paradise for children filled with elements promising to elevate a day in the outdoors to another level for any keen young explorer. I imagine it's very much inspired by Kate's own childhood memories and George, Charlotte and Louis's upbringing.

'It is the rural idyll of many children’s dreams — and a clue that Prince George and Princess Charlotte are, like all youngsters, keen on toasted marshmallows. The Duchess of Cambridge has given a unique insight into her family life with the designs for her “back to nature” garden at this year’s Chelsea flower show.
The centrepiece of her garden is a “high platform tree house” made from stag horn oak, inspired by a bird or animal nest. Prince George is known to enjoy playing in the tree house, which Princes William and Harry played in as children at Highgrove, the Prince of Wales’s Gloucestershire home. William, 36, is also thought to have built a tree house for his children at Anmer Hall.
The Queen, a keen gardener, will be one of the first people to inspect the finished project when she visits Chelsea for a private view before the show opens to the public in May.
Kensington Palace said: “The garden will build on Her Royal Highness’s passion for the outdoors and the proven benefits that nature has on physical and mental health.'
Readers will recognise several of the items Kate wore in the new images from her visit to King Henry's Walk Garden last month.
In two of the images, the Duchess wore her Dubarry Bracken Jacket. The £399 jacket features a stand-up collar, zipped front and storm flap. Dubarry of Ireland is an Irish brand with a collection of premium performance footwear, clothing, leather goods and accessories. It's available in an assortment of shades on the Dubarry website. Kate's piece is 'heath'.
Kate also wore her J Crew Mockneck Sweater in mahogany.
Laura suggests it appears Kate also owns the sweater in 'Heather Loren Green'.
And it appears Kate accessorised with her Kiki McDonough Lauren earrings.
In other news, Kate held a dinner a Buckingham Palace for those involved in the steering group for her early years initiative. The evening was private, but we do expect to hear more in the coming weeks on the project. We'll see the Cambridges tomorrow evening for the star-studded BAFTA awards :)
