The Italian Connection
The Mick GT Scooter Coat from Connection Clothing of Milan, Italy, provides the perfect top layer for a spring scooter trip in Italy from Amalfi to Positano and back. You can take the (hair-raising in parts) SS163 road that hugs and sometimes hangs over the coast. The journey takes around an hour one way, so it's fine for a day's outing. Ristorante Kasai, Praiano, makes a nice pitstop more or less halfway. You could also visit some of the locations where Pasolini shot the Decameron.
Made from weatherproof British L24 Ventile cotton, the Mick coat was inspired from a classic scooter rider's smock coat from the 1960s. Our nice new friends at Modern Classic Clothing stock the Mick in various colour options, but the khaki we see here takes some beating.
Toggles batting against your chestThe coat has a zipped funnel neck and hood should the clouds gather. It can happen. Even in Italy. And when you're on your scooter you can't hold a brolly above your head.
Decent-looking toggles will bat against your chest as you are zipping along on your GT. The coat has a big map pocket at the front too. At a push, it might be able to hold all you need for an overnight stopover after too many limoncellos.
As in the top photo, a good pair of driving gloves with classic knuckle holes will complete the upper/outer half. I'm thinking stone-coloured cotton twill jeans and beige Clarks desert boots for the bottom half, but you probably have a better idea so I won't labour the point.
Just add ItalyNow you just need to add Italy as the backdrop. After all, without Italy life would be a mistake.
